My mother passed away on December 10, 2009. I needed a way to help myself work through the grieving process. I knew that just writing an occasional entry in a paper journal wouldn't help me deal w/ the myriad of emotions. I've pledged to write in this blog every day for a year to chronicle what I hope will lead from the pain of mourning to the glory of remembrance.

Wednesday, 09 June 2010 -- Day 171 (184)
Kenzie and I had a "burning of her 11th grade year" this afternoon. I made a fire in the fire pit, and she got out all her notes, study guides, papers, and assignments for Chemistry, American Lit, Spanish III, and Social Problems and Human Relations. We had a ball saying goodbye to her junior year and welcoming the start of her senior year. She giggled each time I ceremoniously picked up the grate as she placed the papers on the fire. It amazes me to think that at the age Mackenzie is now, is the age Mom was when she had been married for a year and had her first baby. Different times, different dreams.
